PRESENTATION

SOROMALT is available as Iron (III) Isomaltoside 100 mg/ml in 5 ml Vial.

Description

SOROMALT (Iron (III) Isomaltoside 1000 solution for injection/infusion) is a colloid with strongly bound iron in spheroidal iron-carbohydrate particles. It is a dark brown non-transparent solution.

INDICATIONS AND USAGE

SOROMALT (Iron (III) Isomaltoside 1000 solution for injection/infusion) is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency when oral preparation is ineffective or cannot be used and where there is a clinical need to deliver iron rapidly.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Depending on the patient's iron requirement, patient weight, and HB levels dose is decided and titrated accordingly, initial dose ranges from 1000 mg to 2000 mg.

SOROMALT (Iron (III) Isomaltoside 1000 solution for injection/infusion) can be given as an IV bolus, IV infusion, or as direct injection into the venous limb of a dialyzer.

CONTRAINDICATION

SOROMALT (Iron (III) Isomaltoside 1000 solution for injection/infusion) should not be given to patients with evidence of iron overload, known hypersensitivity to Iron (III) Isomaltoside and/or any ingredients of the formulation and in patients with anemia not caused by iron deficiency.
