DESCRIPTION
TACROTREAT 1 mg (Tacrolimus 1 mg Capsules) is from a class of drugs called immunosuppressants and is categorized as a calcineurin inhibitor. It is used to control the body's immune response helping the body of the transplant recipient to accept the transplanted organ. It is used in combination with antiproliferative agents like MMF or azathioprine and other corticosteroids for the prophylaxis of acute rejection in renal, hepatic or cardiac transplants.
INDICATIONS AND USAGE
TACROTREAT 1 mg (Tacrolimus 1 mg Capsules) is used for prophylaxis of organ rejection in recipients of allogenic Liver, Kidney & Heart transplants. It is also used in nephritic syndrome.
DOSAGE
To prevent kidney transplant rejection:
Adults: The starting dose is usually 0.1 to 0.2 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of body weight per day, divided into 2 doses and taken every 12 hours.
Children: 0.3 mg/kg per day, divided into 2 doses, given every 12 hours.
To prevent liver transplant rejection:
Adults: The starting dose is usually 0.1 to 0.15 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of body weight per day, divided into 2 doses and taken every 12 hours.
Children: The starting dose is usually 0.15 to 0.2 mg/kg of body weight per day, divided into 2 doses and taken every 12 hours.
To prevent heart transplant rejection:
Adults: The starting dose is usually 0.075 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) of body weight per day, divided into 2 doses and taken every 12 hours.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
It cannot be given to patients with hypersensitivity to HCO 60, tacrolimus or its contents.
