DESCRIPTION

Tolvaptan belongs to the group of medicines called Vasopressin antagonists. Tolvaptan is used in the treatment of low levels of sodium in the blood which can result from conditions such as heart failure, cirrhosis and syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH).

INDICATION AND USAGE

Tolvaptan is indicated in adults for the treatment of hyponatremia (low levels of sodium in the blood) and syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH).

DOSAGE

Adults- At first, 15 mg once a day. Doctor will adjust your dose as needed. However, the dose is usually not more than 60 mg per day.

Children—Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.

CONTRAINDICATION

If you are suffering from Liver Disease, Kidney Disease, Hyperkalemia and dehydration, you should not take Tolvaptan unless your doctor advises you to take.
